Timothy Muris becomes Chairman of Federal Trade Commission

Timothy Muris (far left in photograph), when he was serving as a Anti-Trust Advisor for the George W. Bush campaign, met with one of our investor groups (Worldview Washington --Sept. 2000) to discuss how the Bush Administration would possibly view anti-trust issues differently than the Clinton-Gore Administration. These differences were especially signficant with regard to major ongoing cases, like the Microsoft case, which spanned both Administrations.

After George W. Bush was elected President, Tim Muris was nominated and confirmed as Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. Because of various resignations and renominations, the FTC now has a working Republican majority, the impact of which on anti-trust enforcement is already being demonstrated and felt.
